My chosen genre - Psychological Thriller

After compiling research into a series of different genres, I have decided to base my opening sequence around the psychological thriller genre. This genre is defined as "a specific sub-genre of the wide ranging thriller genre". However, this genre also often incorporates elements from the mystery and drama genre in addition to the typical traits of the thriller genre.

I have chosen this specific genre as it's what ignites an interest in me most as well as being my preferred choice of genre to watch. Prior to developing an idea for my opening sequence, I am going to further establish my knowledge by conducting general research into the genre in terms of the following: narrative, character types, film language/iconography and intended effect.
